Best brand of hair dye for light brown/honey highlights for dyed hair?

i just dyed my hair medium reddish brown (using garnier) and only my roots ended up that color :(

but in a few months, i want to do light brown highlights preferably using a kit with a pull-through cap because i want subtle highlights.Best brand of hair dye for light brown/honey highlights for dyed hair?
I have had a lot of experience with my own hair when it comes to dye and highlights. the reason that you only had you roots show up that color is because roots soak in the hair dye much quicker than the rest of your hair. instead of putting the dye all over your hair at one, start at the bottom up to about 2 1/2 inches from the roots, and wait about 15 minutes before you add the rest of the dye to your roots. honestly, your roots only need to have dye on it for 20 minutes to work. the rest of the hair about 40 minutes. hope that helps you if you want to dye your hair in the future again. with your question regarding highlights, my suggestion is you use hair dye, and not pre-boxed highlight products. they do not work that great. if you want nice subtle highlights, than use the ion brand color solution and developer, which you can get from sally beauty, or sallybeauty.com. it shouldn't cost more than 8 dollars for both products, each less than four dollars. mix the color solution and developer (preferable the 30 volume creme). then separate small sections in which you want to highlight, brush mixture through with a hair dye brush tool ($1.50 at most beauty supply stores). after doing so, put each highlighted section in a foil to keep from mixing with other hair. using some blow drying heat will help the color come out better, do this about 2-3 minutes before washing out color. and with all hair styling and dye/highlights, be sure to condition regularly. hope this helps!Best brand of hair dye for light brown/honey highlights for dyed hair?
My hair did this a few weeks ago - it's because the rest of your hair has been died before but the roots are still ';virgin hair';. You could either wait forever until your whole head of hair is 'virgin' or try bleaching up the rest of it before running the dye through it. A pain I know, but it's the only way.
