I did that. And then the blonde highlights started showing through. My advice is don't go too dark yet, and gradually get darker, so the blonde highlights look more natural and gradually fade away when they would look unnatural.I want to dye my hair a very dark brown, but i have blond bleached highlights in it. What will the effect be?
Lighter brown, to reddish, red/orange or red/gold highlights. You can always mix up a little of the tint cut a piece of your highlights and apply it and leave it for the length of time it would be on your hair. Then rinse it off and allow it to dry to see what the result would be. Take one cap of the color, and mix it in a glass bowl with the same amount of the developer and that should be enough to tint the strand.
Basically, it isn't likely your hair will turn green.
But, if you just stick the brown dye in, the blonde will be a light brown, and your brown will end darker.
I recommend dying the blonde to the desired brown color only and by itself.
Wash that out.
Then, dye the rest of your hair along with the blonde.
Look like me
There's a possibility your hair could take on a greenish tinge, I would suggest either getting it done professionally or buying 2 packs of the same hairdye in case after one application it does indeed go green.
The darker you go, the less chance there is of this happening, so you should be okay.
