Red streaks (3 or 4) or red hair and highlights? for a black person light skinned?
i would do red highlights w/ ur dark hair. that looks way better. it would look good cause of ur darker hair color.Red streaks (3 or 4) or red hair and highlights? for a black person light skinned?
...highlights....then add the streaks later if you still want them.
I got my hair highlighted and LOVE it.Red streaks (3 or 4) or red hair and highlights? for a black person light skinned?
get red streaks on black hair! they have hair extensions that you glue to your natural hair at the roots. Since you only want 3 or 4, this is definitely the way to go because they last a few months and you wash your hair and treat the hair as your own. I found some that you can buy on ebay...but i'm sure that if you go to your local hair salon, they will be able to help you out. Good luck! it will look sooo cute!
hm like maybe a medium skin color? I think it will look good, You have a darker hair color now right? like a dark brown or black it would look good and it should make your hair pop!
You can do either. Streaks are healthier than dyeing your whole head but Keyshia Cole is light and has red and blonde hair so its up to you!

Dying highlighted hair...?
My hair is light brown with blonde highlights, if i wanted to dye it something close to this color http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4136/n25509958305919509117bf3.jpg would the highlights be lighter or darker than the rest of my hair?Dying highlighted hair...?
First of all this color you have a picture of has red pigment and if your highlights are bleach blonde a box color could turn you highlights pink. You realy have to be careful with red color.
If you find a color that is closer to your hair color or level of color. Like a level 5 is a medium brown then a 5R(5 red) or something with a level 5 that has red in it should be fine. Your highlights will eventually be lighter than the rest of your hair because that hair is of course lighter, but also more pourus than the natural color you have because it has been chemically treated. So the color will slip faster on the blond hairs causing it to become lighter.
If you have brown hair and coloring your hair yourself, I just recomment you not going up to lighter levels with red-like strawberry blonde or anything because it will be a mess.
That color on the picture looks to be a 5R-thats your best bet.Dying highlighted hair...?
If an all over color was placed on your hair and you have two tones of color in your air (i.e. the ight brown and blonde) absolutely the blonde will appear slightly lighter than the rest of you hair, although it wont' be a shade of ';blonde'; it may turn more like caramel than the blonde you have now. The hairstyle you have the picture of here is multitonal, not one shade of brown. A stylist who can physically match the color of your hair can better tell you what exactly your hair will turn to be. Have fun it's just hair!
the highlights should look a little lighter !
u should wait 6 months after dying ur hair
highlighted pieces soak in more of the color of the product.

How to get red highlights on black hair?
i have just dyed my hair black and want to put red hight lights in i have had it done in a salon before but cant afford to go again.
so im gonna use a hightlighting cap and bleach my hair and then put the red in.
how long should i wait till i can bleach the hair?
and when i have washed the bleach out can i put the red dye in straight away thats what they do in salons isnt it??
cheers!!How to get red highlights on black hair?
Well, you can do it now, but it will cause more damage and may not look the way you want it too. You might , if your considering waiting a while, wait six weeksHow to get red highlights on black hair?
If I were you, I wouldn't focus on what they did at the salon because they use different products. I would wait at least 2 weeks to bleach your hair, im not to sure if that a great time but I do know that any earlier and you can break off your hair and or just kill it. After you bleach it maybe you should put a relaxer or like a conditioner on it, so it's not so frazzled....i guess you can add the red right away but im not 100% sure of that. Espically if it's bright red....if its NOT bright red you may not really have to bleach your hair just add the bright red die to your hair and leave it on for a long time....when you rinse it out it will be a deep/medium deep red....
good luck :)
how long ago did you dye your hair black?
if i were you id wait 24hrs before you bleach it and dont wash it until two days after the bleaching.
honestly id wait a few hours before putting the red in because since you just bleached your hair it wont absorb the red pigment very well.
maybe schedule a day just to do your hair, that way you can make sure to get the best results, i also recommend getting someone to help you out too.
it depeends on how bright of a red you want your hair to be. last year i used a red rinse and since my hair is black it really didnt show. HOWEVER, AFTER THAT I TRIED AGAIN AND INSTEAD THE LADY THAT DOES MY HAIR HAD TO DYE THE PARTS OF MY AHAIR THE I WANTD RED... BLONDE. AFTER SHE USED THE RED RINSE ND RINSED IT OVER THE BLONDE PARTS.
most people, if they go to the hair dresser, then they at that point may get a hair dye treatment or something like that.
Ask any hairdresser, they should know what to do.
Or you could just go over it in black highlights.
it says on the bottle or box.
and yess that is whhat the salons do.

What color of highlights should i get for dark brown hair?
Do not get blonde highlights. If you have dark brown hair (I do) and you get blonde highlights it can look totally weird. If its not almost black-brown it could look okay but it has to be a light- dark brown to look good.
If its dark like mine, which is about 2-shades lighter than a shade of brown people would call almost black, then I would get light brown or milk chocolate low-lights. That would probably look the best.
Sorry. That was kind of confusing. You may have to read it a couple times. Sorry again.

Depends on you skin tone. If you have an olive skin tone, blond will look kinda funny IMHO.

I have really dark brown hair with blue eyes Im thinking of getting highlights Would blonde highlights be odd?
It might look pretty to go maybe three shades lighter with your hilights- this will lighten you up and give some pretty dimension... but if you do straight up blonde hilights, those strands might turn orange-ish (since you are starting out so dark). Also, such durastic colored hilights could give you a skunky streaky look. I would go for a more natural boost and do hilights in shades a little closer to your natural color:)I have really dark brown hair with blue eyes Im thinking of getting highlights Would blonde highlights be odd?
I think as long as you are not seriously pale it would look fine. Just be sure if you want to get the best results (from a take home highlighting kit) use a cap with holes in it and knit strands through and you'll end up with beautiful blonde highlights...I did it....I have really dark brown hair with blue eyes Im thinking of getting highlights Would blonde highlights be odd?
Yes blonde would look a little odd in dark brown hair, try caramel highlights instead, they're really fashionable right now.
Why don't you go with reddish highlights instead? I wouldn't say blonde would be odd, but i think reddish would be a little more natural looking.
you should do the rainbow afect... which is blonde streaks and red streaks and blue streaks runing through your hair... I had a friend who did that ans she was so hot! but it's your choice.
i would do a bright color like blue or red i think blonde would look kinda weird, my friend did the same thing and now she h8s it.
It dpeends on what you look like.
Most the time though on people like you,
caramel highlights are best!
i dont think it would be odd....i think it would be pretty but its whatever you like
I would go for light brown ones too. Blonde ones will look pretty odd.
they would yet would not be good, i would go with light brown highlights
no would be pretty

I honestly don't know if it's a turn-off for guys, but I definitely think it looks very natural and pretty, I like how it clashes, it's really cute.
Also, you're really pretty, the blonde hair with green eyes is awesome. (:
I agree about the eye makeup being too much but that wasn't your question right? so, I personally think that you would look great with darker hair. Just to give my opinion ;) Guys don't really care what color your hair is....it's more than that.

I just highlighted my hair. I need help!!! Fast!! Please!!?
It was supposed to be brown with blonde hightlights but the roots are white, then there is yellow then red, then brown with blonde. What do I do?I just highlighted my hair. I need help!!! Fast!! Please!!?
Get some toner and even the colour out
You can find it with the hair bleach in any good drugstore
Just get the shade you want and apply it to the highlightsI just highlighted my hair. I need help!!! Fast!! Please!!?
Call a salon, NOW!!
You either need to go see a professional to get it fixed or pick a color darker than the darkest part you have and start over.. it is easier to go dark than it is to go lighter..
Go back to the salon that did it. Or if you did it at home, book an appointment for a colour correction - which will cost more then if you would have just done it at the salon in the first place.
You shouldn't have done it yourself. Next time have a professional do it.
there isn't anything YOU should do, visit a salon and have them look at your hair. You might have to go dark.
please don't try anything at home.
i just highlighted my hair too and mine looks pretty good. you should go to the salon and dye your hair brown. one color in your hair is more fashionable anyway......LOL
Go back to the hair salon, get your money back, ask why your hair doesn't look like what you paid for then go somewhere else and get it fixed. Problem solved.
go back to your natural color. then wait a week or so to highlight again...
it sounds like the roots took first, so that's why they are bleached white, maybe because you applied too close to the scalp when you started. It may have something to do with heat of scalp. I made the mistake of getting my hair lightened once. I have dark brown hair, so the hair stylist first bleached my color. It goes through a process where it turns red then orange than yellow than white, well, supposedly, but my scalp started burning so when the stylist rinsed, my hair was yellow. Then when she deposited the color it all just came out shades of orange. Oh, it was horrific, and my hair was all limp and I'm surprised it didn't fall out cause I had a relaxer, too! Well, anyways, what I'm saying is your hair didn't process evenly. Mine did that in spots cause I also had an old color in there. It can complicate things for the home hair dyer if she isn't starting with virgin hair. Other previous treatments will also affect the outcome. Your choices are either to go to a good, expensive salon and get their top person to fix it (recommended), or if it's a major emergency like mine was ( I was on the way to an important party) you can cover it up with black. That's what the stylist did to me, but you really can't get that black out without further destroying your hair. I just had to cut it off over the next few months. Good thing I had short hair. Don't ever dye your hair at home or ever have it done by someone who is not extremely experienced. Hair color isn't as simple as it looks on the outside of those grocery store kits. People go to school and get certified to do it. Would you perform brain surgery on yourself... ?Of Course not, you'd go to a neurosurgeon. While not as serious, I'd still go to a professional stylist with 15 years experience rather than entrust my locks to my clumsy hands, stained towels, cheap plastic tools, and my good old bathtub. Cause I know when I'm done destroying my hair, I won't be grinning a bleached, eye-lifted smile and tossing my glossy mane like the lady on the dye packaging. I'll be looking for the least worn out baseball cap to shove over the accident I created. Go to a salon. You will be thrilled with the results of an experienced colorist.

24 weeks pregnant, i had highlighted my hair 2 month ago, and now i want to do it a gaine is that ok?
You want to be careful using any chemicals while pregnant. Anything you do can affect your unborn baby.
Here is another thing to think about. Your hormones are different than before, so anything you do with your hair chemically may not come out the same as it did before you became pregnant.24 weeks pregnant, i had highlighted my hair 2 month ago, and now i want to do it a gaine is that ok?

ummm if u really wanna do it...then do it... but be prepared to be upset if it doesnt turn out right. :)
Why don't u get somebody that has at least a bit of knowledge of hair colouring to do it for you.
And if it doesn't bother you that you'll make a mistake then do it yourself :P
Garnier Multi Lights are about 拢4 and are good, just make sure you buy the bright enough ones because otherwise you end up with barely any results.
garnier blonding highlights are good..
Perhaps a paper round will help you afford it?

my natural hair color is brown and i got my hair highlighted, but my whole head is almost blonde!!! it looks so horrible on me!! not every strand is blonde i only have a little bit of brown left!! My hair looks gray!! I want to dye the gray parts of it brown, but i dont know what kind of box i should get
PLEASE HELP ME!! I AM ONLY 16 I DONT WANT GRAY HAIR!!!!HIGHLIGHTED HAIR HELp!!!!1?
ok first, breath. lol
its going to be okay it's just hair.
go to walmart or heb or wherever you shop and buy a box of color for your whole hair, i would recomend dark brown... choclate brown?
this will take all those insane highlights and darken them so you will have brown hair with lowlights.
i promise you its so easy to fix i have done it millions of times when i dont like my highlights.
remember, dye ALL your hair.. not just the blonde. it will be fine
good luckHIGHLIGHTED HAIR HELp!!!!1?
Okay, settle down.. you were done a heavy highlight and so you just need to get a 'reverse' highlight. With as close to your color as possible.. Are you doing this yourself?
If not, go the salon. If not, go get L'Oreal Cream as close to your color as you can find and a plastic cap with the holes already in it - you can look at those and I would go heavy.. Not in the 'pull through' but in the amount of 'holes' in the caps.
It will turn lighter with shampoos but by then your hair will grow , be sure to condition alot with a good conditioner. Never use heat when too much bleach is in your hair and make sure your hairdryer is on coolish not HOT...
The only other alternative is to just find a color and color it forgetting the blond for now...
do not do yourself!!! if you think that it already looks grey then most of it is very light blonde possibly white if you go in with box color you run the risk of turning it greyer or greenish or even pinkish. go back ask to weave some dark and to tone the blonde down because it is too light. they should do it w/o problems otherwise raise a stink because you are the one wearing the hair!!! whatever you do, don't freak out it can always be fixed just DON'T TRY TO DO IT YOURSELF!!!
This happened too one of my best friends! she tried to fix it it looked worse so go to the salon and get it fixed they will give you your natural hair color and proper highlights you may need to wiat til your roots grow in a bit depending on your salon. When asking for highlights tell thim you want them too look very natural GOOD LUCK i hope this works for you
the loreal multi lights kits are really good.
or clairol or herbal essences. those are the only ones i would trust. if you mix in a medium like chestnut brown it should make the blonde look really pretty. and those brands are guaranteed to provide full grey coverage lol
I'm sorry, but if it is that bad, why not get it proffessionally re-done ?

Highlights (hair)???
i need help with highlights. i dont now what kind of color i should get? i have very dark brown hair and hazl eyes. witch r green, chestnut, and gray on the ring of the eye. im trying to get this guy's attention. i really like him so i dont now what to do. can anyone helpHighlights (hair)???
I think that you should get either caramel colored highlights or Bright bluish turqoise!!! Because I know many people who have that and it looks amazing!Highlights (hair)???
First of all I don't think guys really care much about what colour a girls hair is...sorry if that sounds rude I am not trying to be!
Try a dark blonde or light brown highlights! Try going to the salon to get it done! They will be able to help you decide what would best suit you! It would be costly but worth it!

I wanna know what i should do to my hair, should i color it, or put some more highlights in it?
should i add some lowlights if so then what color?!
i need help!
my hair color is the average brown, with old blond highlights in it. my hair is barely past my shoulders.I wanna know what i should do to my hair, should i color it, or put some more highlights in it?
honestly i think blonde highlights and brown hair looks ridiculous but i have blonde hair and even blonder highlights and everytime i re highlight my hair it just keeps making my hair more blonder. like the highlights combined and thats not going to look good on a brunette bc soon ull be all blonde. i think low lights would be cool. but then again u have highlights in it haha. maybe you should color it back to normal and like a month after (so ur hair doesnt fall out) you should get low lights. just shoot for something different :)

Highlighting Hair?????
Is it true that you can highlight blonde hair if you put lemon juice on it and sit in the sun?Highlighting Hair?????
Yes, but it REALLY dries out your hair, I wouldn't reccomend it...
[:Highlighting Hair?????
You can absolutely highlight your hair with lemon juice, it takes time, and starting with truly blonde hair or you will get a really brassy result. Highlights can be tricky and you can easily destroy your hair if you don't use deep conditioning products. If you are a real blonde squeeze one lemon into 8 oz., warm water Pour this mixture through your hair soaking it, then pat gently with a towel and sit in direct sun light and let dry, Repeat this process and in a little while you will notice a real change in your hair. I feel I should advise you to go to a salon and have proper highlights done by a professional. Keep in mind you want to be a sexy blonde not a trashy bimbo. Classy blonde's are NOT brassy ever! Make sure you go to the salon for good shampoo and conditioner as well as a heat protector if you blow dry or flat iron. Blonde hair doesn't reflect light like dark hair and can appear dry and flyaway, you have no choice but to condition and use styling products that reduce frizz and keep hair as shiny as is possible.
I just did it today - it was so pretty outside.
I have light brown hair, so light that many people consider it blonde. I bought a simple bottle of lemon juice from the grocery store, and mixed it with water in a cheap spray bottle. Then, I sprayed it in my hair (make sure you get everything evenly so it doesn't get splotchy) and then go outside in the sun for about an hour (or until it's dry). If it isn't sunny where you are then just blow dry it.
The lemon juice is very acidic, so my hair was very dry and crunchy. After I came inside, I took a shower, shampooing it like I usually do to wash the lemon juice out. Then, I conditioned it, leaving the conditioner in for 2-3 minutes, then rinsing it out. Then I let my hair air dry. It feels just as soft as it usually does.
Afterwords, my hair was just a little lighter. Don't expect very noticeable results after just one time. I'm going to do it every day for a week.
Note: I have heard that dark brunettes should not do this - it will just turn their hair orange.
Both lemon juice and Sun In can ruin your hair. Buy a product that is intended for highlighting and carefully follow the directions, or go to a salon to get it done.
I knew a girl with dirty blond hair who ended up with a crew cut after using lemon juice. She had to cut it all off, it was so damaged. ✂
Im not sure but back in the 80's girls would use lemon to get there hair hard since back in the 80's hairspray was the big thing to use on your hair to get the big hair going. Lemon would get it super hard.
Hi:
yes its true but you will be drying your hair out and it usually turns to a brassy yellow. You can also use Sun in from the Drugstore.
Spray and stay in the sun.
Make sure you put conditioner on your hair.
yes i have done it before.
i mixed it with some water though and put it in a spray bottle. then i sprayed it in.
just make sure you spread through all your hair or else you will have some uneven hair.
Rofl i did it for a bet... I won 15$ and had highlights for a month. I looked gay, though...
yeah that works and so does mascara.
yeah, but youll fry your hair. try sun-in instead!

Well It is worth getting straight A's no matter what. If getting your hair dyed is motivating enough for you to get good grades then go for it! Keeping good grades is easy and if you are already getting them, then keep it up. Doing homework is always the bigger chunk of you grade and it helps you study more so you can do good on tests! Good luck! And the hair is super cute.
am yeah it worth it that style is gorgeous!!is it caz ur mums payin 4 it that ur not allowed caz if the roots grow out Will she let u get it done again because of the regrowth:
i got this of the Internet
highlighting the hair is generally a bleaching process, as new growth emerges in the hair, you will find the highlights seem to move farther down the hair shaft. The actual colour change from highlighting is, in effect, permanent. Your highlights will only “go away” as the new growth emerges.
Most people find that they need to have their highlights retouched every six to eight weeks. Since the hair grows an average of ½-inch per month, at the end of eight weeks you will have an average area of one inch at the scalp where the natural colour is present before the highlighting colour appears.
In some cases, depending on the hairstyle involved, you may be able to wait longer than normal for a retouch service. However, be sure not to wait too long, since you want to make sure your hair looks its best.

so if she wont let u get it done again it might not last very long
but i tink it would look fab so gd look with da a's and the fab hair!!
yeah! thats soo pretty! i think it is definitely worth it! it would probably look soo pretty on you! tips to keep on getting A's. first of all study, and study. make sure that you never leave your projects til the last minute. Remember this: you can attract more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. meaning that teachers tend to give better marks to students who are sweet, nice ect!
i really do think its worth it and the only thing i can tell you is pay attention and do all your homework because missing assignments really bring down your grade.

White highlights for dark brown/black hair?
I want to get a single streak of white and I have dark dark brown to black hair, but I've heard that if i bleach my hair it'll fall out. is there any way to get my hair white without it falling out/breaking off?White highlights for dark brown/black hair?
It will take more than one process to lift the color of your hair that much. Honestly I wouldn't risk it. ';White'; or platinum will be nearly impossible to achieve with hair that is dark. If you can get there, your hair is gonna be super fried.White highlights for dark brown/black hair?
You can bleach a little bit of it (streak) and it will get pretty fried but it won't completely fall out. Just condition it like crazy and don't sweat it, it's just a streak... DO NOT bleach more than that though unless you want straw for hair.
Always go to a professional for dyeing your hair. You will damage it if you try to ';bleach'; it yourself.

it sounds like your going to a hairdresser so i would suggest getting auburn red foils which is a type of highlighting they can do. or another thing you can do is use this product called a shade you can match your original hair color and within that is red highlights already. Highlighted Hair?!?
Is highlighted hair out of style? I am getting my hair done today and I can't seem to find any pics of celebs with highlighted hair, is that a sign?Highlighted Hair?!?
Highlights are never out of style. But since it is fixing to be winter season people tend to go more towards dark colors. Good luck!! Hope your hair comes out good!!Highlighted Hair?!?
Highlighted hair is old school.....I stopped getting hightlights about 4 years ago....
Are u for real??!
Big, chunky highlights seem to be out of style. That, and high contrasting ones (black and white) that is, unless you're a punker. The blocky highlights seem to be coming back with the alternative subcultures. Thin subtle highlights in a color that compliments or brings out the colour of your hair is never out of style. Say if your hair is a warm medium brown, caramel would look great, and bring out the color of your skin.
Just because celebs aren't doing it, doesn't mean that it's not in style.
Highlights... only blonde highlights will be be fine...red/black/blue...thier out.
What do you mean none of the celebs have highlights? almost everyone has them and not only blond but in different colors too like Rihanna with her red highlights.
yes, sorry, they are
Who cares? If you like your hair highlighted, then go for it.
Hightlights are still in. Keep Checking the internet you will find pictures

Highlighted hair and swimming...?
Hello,
i am going to get get my hair highlighted this coming Tuesday and i want to go swimming the following day..
i think i will be getting blonde highlights in like a honey which is lighter then my dark brown hair so nothin should leak out as i wont be getting a darker colour on to my hair
so yeah am i able to go swimming the following day and not for my hair to go green as people always say chlorine makes your blonde hair go green lol
thanks!
xoHighlighted hair and swimming...?
Be sure to saturate your hair with water in the shower before you get in the pool, if your hair is wet all ready it will be less likely to soak up the chlorine. Also rinse immediately after you get out to rinse any chlorine off. When you get home shampoo your hair using a color safe shampoo...and then condition for at least two minutes. You could also try preconditioning with a leave in conditioner. This will also help keep the chlorine out. :)Highlighted hair and swimming...?
i got peroxide highlights and swum the next day and they are still fine! so in my experience its ok..but i cannot be 100% sure! sorryyy good luck! xx
i am going to get get my hair highlighted this coming Tuesday and i want to go swimming the following day..
i think i will be getting blonde highlights in like a honey which is lighter then my dark brown hair so nothin should leak out as i wont be getting a darker colour on to my hair
so yeah am i able to go swimming the following day and not for my hair to go green as people always say chlorine makes your blonde hair go green lol
thanks!
xoHighlighted hair and swimming...?
Be sure to saturate your hair with water in the shower before you get in the pool, if your hair is wet all ready it will be less likely to soak up the chlorine. Also rinse immediately after you get out to rinse any chlorine off. Can i use a highlighting kit on my dark hair to make it lighter?
i was wondering if i have dark hair nd youse a light blonde highliting kit..on my hair as color..will that make my hair lighter..just curious..Can i use a highlighting kit on my dark hair to make it lighter?
it will turn your hair orange. box bleaches suck. go to the salon. Can i use a highlighting kit on my dark hair to make it lighter?
if you want to do your own highlights you would unfortunatly have to bleach the bits you want to highlight! i had to do this with my own hair.. and also home highlighting kits ARENT bad! i had one and my friend did it for me and it turned out really nice and looked proffesional! good luckk x
it depends how long you leave it on. if you want blonde highlights, go to the salon. but if you just want lighter highlights, like a carmel color leave it on for half the time it says. good luck.
it'll turn it a rusty orange, i dont suggest it

Would Blonde Highlights Look Okay On Dark Blonde Scene Hair?
okay, so im getting scene hair in a few days with a swept fringe and bangs and short layers and everything, but instead of colouring my BLONDE hair im having blonde highlights in, i was just wondering would it look okay, and have you got any tips on having scene hair
thanksWould Blonde Highlights Look Okay On Dark Blonde Scene Hair?
Yeahh
Answer Mine?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>Would Blonde Highlights Look Okay On Dark Blonde Scene Hair?
scene hair is usually block colour, all one colour. if there is highlights, they are usually only in the bangs and sides, very chunky or un natural colours.
your style will be scene but i think the colour your planning on getting it will make it a more 'toned down scene hair'. it will look fine, but if you wanted it more 'scene' and outrageous i think you should think about getting a different colour.
ew that'd look nastyy!

Will green brush-in highlights show up on black hair?
If not, is spray in highlights any better? Will green brush-in highlights show up on black hair?
To get any color to show up on (truly) black hair, you'll have to bleach the portion that you want to color BEFORE you apply the color. Since black is the most dense pigment, you have to remove it to add anything else. Will green brush-in highlights show up on black hair?
Sorry..but you have to bleach it for just about every color =(kobe bryant

Dying my previously highlighted hair..?
So on most hair dye packs, it says not to be used on previously highlighted hair...
Is this right ?
I had my hair coloured last October, so would it be ok to do it now ?
I have blond hair....if that helps any..?
xDying my previously highlighted hair..?
You could, but expect it to be heavier.Dying my previously highlighted hair..?
Hmmm not sure about that. Do you have dark ';roots'; ...if so how long are they? The color probably won't take the same on the old hilighted hair as the regrowth hair. Be careful. But if it's all one color already then you should be fine.
it's ok to do i wouldn't do it at home it would get it done professional.
I'm sure it'll be fine.
i dont think so
yes...its been a while since uve dyed ur hair it should be ok
make it green
I would dye it a darker color than what it is now so that it can even out. Otherwise, some of the hair that was previously highlighted will be darker than the part that wasn't.
That should be fine.
Yeah I have done it quite a few times even though the package said not to... They just say that so in case you just dyed your hair red and are trying to make it blonde it wont turn all orange and stuff like that...

For people with highlighted hair...?
im thinking about highlighting my hair
but how much upkeep is it?
how often do you have to redo it so you don't have roots?
and how do i get rid of the brassy color my hair has taken on during the summer?
it's starting to grow out and i have natural roots that look awfulFor people with highlighted hair...?
total highlights are around $100, the upkeep is around $60, about every 6 weeks.kobe bryant

Best highlights for dark red hair?
I have naturally strawberry blonde hair, and decidd to go darker, like I used to, for something different. It came out a dark and vibrant auburn color and I want to get highlights to break up some of the darkness. I am not sure what I want, and would like some advice as well as pictures because i cannot find any online. I have light skin and a round face. My hair is thick and wavy, and currently just above my shoulders but I am going to get it slightly shorter in a bob soon.
I am not sure how chunky I want my highlights, though I do not want them to blend completely I think because I still want the red noticeble. When I go to get my hair done, I want to take an image with me so the stylist will know what I want better. Any ideas or advice?Best highlights for dark red hair?
Black...It looks exelent!Best highlights for dark red hair?
i'd say either a lighter red or black.... black and red look good together
Red hair? well i would go a lighter red and maybe a light brown. Blond highlights dont look natural with red hair. so i would defintly go with light brown or a lighter red (strawberry blond, light auburn, etc.)
I would actually do chestnut brown...but if you are set on going lighter then I'd ask for the color of Ice Tea in the sunlight....kindof a darker blond color.
a liitle bit of blonde
blonde highlights it'll make it light but still have the red
light red highlights, good luck.

i googled it. and that is auburn hair with honey highlights. and thats not many, so if you want just tell the stylist to do a few more than what she has! hope you like
go with your natural color for high lights
light orange or dirty blonde maybe
i like auburn with blonde highlights
blue or green
reds dont fit highlights.....but u may want to add some brown....nah......i hab no idea.....blonde....definately not....darker red?....

Will my highlights still show if I dye my hair darker?
so i dyed my hair light brown and the lady added some highlights that don't show that much. so i wanted to dye my hair like a chocolate brown but i don't want the highlights to show up. what can i do? and will the highlights still show up? please help. thank youu! %26lt;33Will my highlights still show if I dye my hair darker?
yeah they'll show up. the pigment where your highlights are have been stripped (ie. bleached). so until ya highlights grow out.. they cant hold any color you put in your hair. Will my highlights still show if I dye my hair darker?
it all depends really...it would have been best if you did it all at the same time, its never healthy to double process your hair, but as long as you dont want anything too drastic for your highlights then you should be fine. If you went dark and want really light highlights i would wait a few days. Report Abuse

Natural highlights for dark brown hair?
how can i do this at home?Natural highlights for dark brown hair?
Go to a standard retail store such as Target, Longs, Walgreens ex. Find a blond highlight make sure it says ';Cool undertones'; This makes your hair less likely to turn orange. I would suggest having a friend do it. They are pretty simple but it is hard to do on yourself.
[鈽?amp;鈾Natural highlights for dark brown hair?
If you have light brown hair or even dark blonde hair, blonde highlights can add a ton of depth to your hair. You can weave in up to 3 different types of colors. Ask your stylist about lowlights as well. If you have blonde hair, darker lowlights add more contrast.
You can add caramel highlights for depth, tint hair all over either darker or lighter or try for an auburn color. This color is typical of women with Latin roots (think Eva Longoria) %26amp; is rich %26amp; chocolate-y.
try a highlight only two shades lighter than ur actual hair. if you want to try more than one color of highlights just emphasize the natural highlights u already have in ur hair-light brown a bit of red, whatever- get a friend to help to make sure you get all of ur head covered so it isnt good in the front but weird in the back
puuhhh-lease do not go with blonde highlights!!
i have seen blonde highlighs in dark hair. not pretty.
if its your first time i would do a little research and see which home kit and colors are the best. since you want them to look natural go only one or two shades lighter.
It's not as easy as they make it look on tv. That's why professionals are in business. Good luck, but my advice is schedule an appt. with a stylist.
get sun-in if your hair is a light brown other wise it will turn it orange

My girlfriend tried to put highlights in her hair, and it didn't go too well, any ideas?
My girlfriend used a do-it-yourself product to put highlights in her hair last night. The result was disasterous as her hair now looks orange and splotchy. It looks really bad. I was thinking that if she died it back a solid color, like dark brown, she should be ok. Or, maybe we should shell out for a hairstylist to fix it. Anyone know what the best way to handle this is?My girlfriend tried to put highlights in her hair, and it didn't go too well, any ideas?
LOL this happened to me before when I was young. Just get a dye kit to match her natural color or go with something new, as long as it is dark enough to blend the colors together. You need to go as dark or darker than her normal color. Good Luck and next time go to the salon. I went dark because I was sick of paying $150 for my highlights. You cannot do them well at home.My girlfriend tried to put highlights in her hair, and it didn't go too well, any ideas?
Okay, the natural way would be to cut it all off. or, go to a stylist...much more expensive, though.
treat her to a professional beautician
next time you guys hangout hold her, and tell her how beautiful she is but tell her it just doesnt feel the same and ask her sweetly to change it back and then make make an excuse and kiss her quikly
a large hat
Put green highlights in it and call it ';punk.';
Apply one shade only. Try Loreal Excellence hair color. It will cover all the highlights and it is very gentle.
if i were her i would go and get another hair dye...cuz i do my hair my self as well...get another hair dye and dye it that color....it should change!! good luck
Tell her to go to a hairstylist . They use better hair colors then the one she bought at the store. And they can fix it definitely .
Have her spend the money at this point a professional is needed.
Well that stinks, but look, please don't dump her. You could put a bandanna in it and it probably will help if the bandana is orange. if that doesn't work try a hat. Still no look, go to the hairdresser, dye her hair to a dark color like brown, black, or ummm, or orange. If it still doesn't work, then go to a hairdresser, and make them put black hair extencions in your girlfriends hair, make sure they put them close to her scalp so any orange left will just look like orange highlites.
OMG!
That happened to me!!!
I was going for blond and it went pink!!!
I kept it tho, I thought it was cool...
But for ur gf maybe use darker color isn't a good idea cuz it'll be paler and will look more terrible...
I would go to a hairdresser..
I think your best bet would be to take her to hair solon or someone who knows how to do hair...but you could buy a do it yourself stripper that will strip the color out of her hair....which is prolly what the salon will have to do.
pay the money to go to a salon...even if she puts a solid color back over the botched do...she can still mess it up...hair chemicals are very sensitive when mixed and she could end up with green hair next time...not to mention everytime she dyes it she's damaging her hair. definitely go to a salon...any other way is too much risk
If you guys like each other it wont get in the way of the relationship... professionals will have the solution and dont try to make matters better by putting it in your own hands... thats how you messed up the first time!!!
Hope i helped...
buy a semi permanent die the same colour as her hair.If she has ginger highlights it is good because there is no chance of it going karky!you may have to repeat the semi after a few washes as it may fade, depends on how porous the hair is!If in doubt seek proffesional advise.Pop into a local salon if your bothered about the cost offer to be a colour correction model!
Its only hair. It'll grow out and you can always dye it again.
What!? Don't dump her! Love her for who she is! Not what colour hair she has!!! She will proberley get that fixed soon anyway! It isen't about looks, You wouden't dump her if you really loved her!
petsmart sells theres dog shears fer pretty cheap..that should do the trick.
Dump her. You deserve a nicer looking girlfriend.
Well i think highlights are very pritty like sooner or leter i'll be getting one!
What may have happened is that she didn't leave the highlight solution on her hair long enough. If she has dark brown hair she would need to keep the solution on longer. I've had highlights before and have dark brown hair and if you don't use the highlight solution right you'll end up with orange streaks instead of blond. But you are correct she will most likely need to dye it back to original color and try again. Or pay out more money and get it professionally done and not worry about it. Good Luck.
You can go both routes. Buy an all over darker color and do it yourself- but I would go to a professional and have them fix it because over-dying your hair can cause it to become very dry and break off. Maybe just call a salon in your area and ask them for any suggestions.
Go to a professional

I dyed my hair on saturday night and i want to add highlights to my recently dyed hair. how long should i wait
honestly, you could wait a few days, or even two weeks and you'd be fine. i know time span is important, but when dying hair its all just damaging anyway=d. (not to sound rude, i do too.) its all a matter of personal opinion and readiness. but to stick on the safe side, i would wait a few weeks to make the damage much less dramatic.I dyed my hair on saturday night and i want to add highlights to my recently dyed hair. how long should i wait
I would say wait 4-6 weeks, but 3 should be okay.
Over-dying the hair can damage it, so make sure you use good hair products.

What color highlights should you get if your hair color is really dark brown
my daughter has been begging to get highlights, but in not willing to pay the hefty price at a salon, i offered to do it myself. however, what affect will it have or how much more difficult does it become when your starting with hair that is really dark? i'm scared of accidentally beaching her hair!!!What color highlights should you get if your hair color is really dark brown
if you're too scared you should take her to the salon. she will need like caramel colored highlights to look more natural in dark hair. if you don't want to pay the price if she has a job like babysitting or whatever tell her she needs to pay for half. its better than running the risk of bleaching her hair and then having to go to the salon for them to fix it which could wind up costing you MORE. highlighting is a tricky process. call local salons to see which one has the best price or ask your friends where they go or even where you go to get your hair done so they don't charge you too much and its a place you can trust with quality. good luck =]kobe bryant

How are highlights put into hair in the UK?
i heard about some weird hat thing being used but have no idea about it whatsoever. Can anyone help me out?
SuzanneHow are highlights put into hair in the UK?
Hi, the weird hat thing you've probably heard of is called a cap, its like a plastic flexible hat full of holes that can either be small or big depending on the size and amount of highlights you want, the hairdresser then uses like a big pin with a small hook on the end to ';fish'; the hair through the holes and the colour is applied to the hair on top of the cap,
below is a link where theres some more info on the cap and also a link where you can see what a cap looks like.
hope this is what your after!

http://www.hairscissors.co.uk/product_list.php?id=531How are highlights put into hair in the UK?
If you have really short hair, they may just ';paint'; highlights right onto your hair with no cap. It's called Baylouge. Or sometimes if you want chunks in specific areas, they'll take sections of your hair put them into small ponytails/rubberbands, and color those.
There are some expensive salons that have their own method for how they put in Highlights. But I have not heard of any weird type of ways. They do use foil or cap.

Medium brown hair..wants highlights?
I have medium brown hair
I want to gradually lighten my hair so by summer i can dye it blonde.
I dont want to dye it blonde now, as im afraid its going to turn orange.
My question is, should i hightlight my hair to get it lighter?
And if so, what is the best home-highlighting kit i can buy ?
Thanks!Medium brown hair..wants highlights?
Hey :]
No, I would leave your hair alone for now until it gets died. You don't wanna ruin the color before you even dye it blonde.
Your so lucky you're dying your hair; my rents would never allow it[:

The best thing you can do is go to a pro and ask for a color correction.
Any thing else will be a taking a big chance your hair will turn out worse than it is now.

I dyed my hair dark brown and then add highlights but It came out uneven. What can I do to correct it?
buy oops, color remover from any drugstore.I dyed my hair dark brown and then add highlights but It came out uneven. What can I do to correct it?
Do you mean the streaks came out uneven? You either have to add more highlights in the areas they didn't take, or cover them up with all brown again. It's really better to let a hairdresser do it because color can be a real disaster if you mess it up.

I really think you should not make yourself look weird by ruining your hair like that. you want to have a good impression on people. do a light burnt orange or a blonde-ish. that would look pretty
try a like atomic pink
my friends sister has it in her hair and it looks really good!!
I think a really dark plum purple and red would look really cute especially if you're paleish
get a deep purple and dark red almost burgundy not bright red, a darker brown then your normal color and a lighter brown then your color. it will look really cool.

I have dark brown hair but not sure to have blond or pink highlights?
please tell me your idea...ASAPI have dark brown hair but not sure to have blond or pink highlights?
I think blonde would look a bit too dramatic against your hair colour. Blonde highlights tend to look kinda skunk-ish on dark hair.
I'd advise against pink, as well. I had a friend with a similar hair colour to yours, and she got pink highlights...but in a matter of days her highlights had faded and turned orange! Her hair look awful, it was all black and orange.
I think the best look for you would be highlights that are just a couple shades lighter than your natural hair colour. Lighter brown highlights would look gorgeous!I have dark brown hair but not sure to have blond or pink highlights?
im a guy and i say dont go pink unless your hair is black...it only looks cute with black hair i think. as far as the blonde...i dunno...alot fo times that ends up looking trashy...but again the ? is pick one...so ild go blonde
I think pink would be cute, but blonde would look more ';normal';
well i wouldn麓t go for blonde cause the difference would be very big, but try light brown at the beginning... than later you can add some blonde into it
The pink highlights.... the blonde would be to much of a drastic change in my opinion.
Dirty people get pink highlights.
stop trying to be punk and stick with blond. maybe no highlights.... it would look too fake............
blond.
I would not get either.
hmmm. with dark brown hair... perhaps blue would be best?kobe bryant

Colorful highlights for curly hair?
I would like to get just a few colorful (bright orange, bright yellow, lime green, electric blue, red, hot pink, etc.) thick highlights in the front of my hair, but its brown and curly so I'm not sure if it would look alright...what do you think? And if you think it would turn out ok, any color suggestions? And I definitely would get it done professionally. Thank you!Colorful highlights for curly hair?

I have dark hair. I tried giving myself caramel highlights out of a box. Turned bright blonde all over. Help! ?
It was L'Oreal. I used a highlighting cap. Followed directions completely. I even did my test strand. My hair is frosted tho not highlights. I know that I can't go straight from blonde to dark brown in one step. But since there is natural hair color involved too, I don't know what I should do to fix the problem. Thanks!I have dark hair. Please, please see a professional colorist at your local hair salon. You need to have a consultation to make sure you haven't done any serious damage to your hair. Once you know what has been done, maybe the professional can guide you as to what to do to get the color you desire.
What ever you do, don't do it yourself. You may just walk around bald if you're not careful. Good luck.I have dark hair. I tried giving myself caramel highlights out of a box. Turned bright blonde all over. Help! ?

Do Highlights Damage Your Hair?
I was just wondering how much highlights / if highlights damage your hair? I was thinking of having quite a few blonde ones, if that helps.Do Highlights Damage Your Hair?
i used to have a whole head done of blonde highlights and had to use the expensive hair treatments from the hairdresser to condition my hair. if you are only having a few done then this should not affect the condition of your hair. Ask your hairdresser about any affects the products they use to make their blonde colour will do to your hair as this may depend on whether you have thin weak hair or thick hair. you may have to use a deep moisturising conditioner once a week or on the days you straighten your hair.Do Highlights Damage Your Hair?
All hair coloring products have strong chemicals which do dry and damage the hair.
Everytime you dye your hair you cause damage. But significant damage is caused when you do it too frequently
they do damage your hair but if you've never got highlights it shouldnt be too bad and if you just get a few your hair should stay healthy. use a lot of conditioner
All chemicals do.
blonde and black damages your hair the most of all colors but not if you dont get them done all the time then you should be fine!
=]
yes to great extent...pls. dont do it unless you are desperate for a change.
Well they dye the hair. They drain the nayural color from your hair and coat it with whatever one you use. You should try to find a rainbow shag layer that has the basis of one color and many rainbow highlights. If you can find the colors and someone to do this it would not look like a head of colors, actually they have appropriate places where each color should sit whereas it would have the best appeal to the style.
Try it.
Dying your hair in general is harmful to your hair. It makes the texture more coarse and your natural color is never as vibrant. Highlights wouldn't be as bad as dying your whole head. But yes hair dye can damage hair.
Best of Luck!

depends on how blond u want it to be. but one way or the other ur hair will be damaged.
not if you do it rite,
the best thing to do is to go to a hairdresser, but if you want to do it your self look for a good 'conditioning' one. If you don't do it to often it'll be fine and make sure after every wash you give it a cold rinse! Its realli good for your hair and will keep your highlites looking wicked!!

i dont think not unless youve benn dying your hair all your life
Doesn't it depend on the type of hair you have or if it is done professionally or not?
well, i have never had highlights, but i have tried them on my pet goose. she loves them very much and lookes very stylish! and no, it did not damge her feathers
I have dark brown hair with blonde highlights (for like half a year now) but it hasn't really damaged my hair yet. They say that your hair goes grey faster if you use hair dye all the time though o____O
a full hair dye damamges your hair, plus because you are getting your hair highlighted its bleach and other chemicals that will effect your hair it normaly ends up dry but you can get conditioners for that, otherwise not really, just go for it

Can I go back to my dark brown hair after getting VERY blond highlights? I am sick of maintainting it!?
It is costly and getting on my nerves. The last time I got my ';roots'; touched up they didn't stay highlighted very long. i was in this exact same situation! i got my highlights done and i decided i didn't like them anymore and so I went to the store and got a color that was closest to my natural hair color and it worked! and my hair has been through alot, so i'm pretty sure yours will turn out okay. and if your alittle apprehensive about doing it yourself, you can always get it done professionally! Can I go back to my dark brown hair after getting VERY blond highlights? I am sick of maintainting it!?
You can, but I suggest going to a professional to avoid adverse effects of conflicting dyes. Or, as you may be aware, hair grows...let it grow until it's all brown again.

I have black hair and I want to add highlights to it, but I'm not sure which color to use. Any ideas?
I would use blonde, but only if your looking to make a statement, it would stand out quite a bit but I think it would look good, lighter browns also look good and aren't to distracting, they simply add a little something. The one colour I would truly recommend is red, it has to be the one colour I see most often and it looks really nice. Anyway good luck with the hair, hope I helped...I have black hair and I want to add highlights to it, but I'm not sure which color to use. Any ideas?
u should get a carmel, with some gold in it.....i have black hair and those are the 2 colors i got when i got my highlights and everyone thought it was cute...u cna also get like a redish kind of color so it will look naturalI have black hair and I want to add highlights to it, but I'm not sure which color to use. Any ideas?
well not blonde, because that isnt good, you'll look trashy. mayb a dark brown maybe a reddish too
Maybe a nice light brown color, to make it look bright and vivid. if not a dark red like a cherry color too.
dark red maybe. it wouldnt look natural, but it might look cute, give your hair some more dimension.
erm red? like dark dark dark red, or dark brown, or blue? lucky that most colours go with black. its up to you if u want it to look natural or not. if natural then the colours i said above, if not then you pick what colour. and blue is like somewhere in the middle because even though its like a bright colour, it goes with black, see even your avatar has blue and black her. hehe hope i helped.
honey blonde, caramel brown or burgundy
When my hair was black I used bleach to give myself highlights. I painted thin streaks on and didn't leave it on long enough to turn them blonde, just a nice brown.

Blonde hair and highlights?
if i were to dye my hair light blonde would highlights look good? and if so, what color?Blonde hair and highlights?
you could do evn blonder highlights than the light blonde your doing, you could do brown highlights. i like blonde hair with diff. color blonde highlights, like say you have reg. light dirty blonde hair, and then over time you add diff. color blonde highlights to your hair like use bleach blonde, honey blonde, and i think its champagne blonde for hightlights ive used them all over time and my hair looked really really good, i loved it im doing my hair like that agn nowBlonde hair and highlights?

Highlighting synthetic hair?
I have a synthetic ponytail hairpiece that I would love to wear but its not highlighted blonde and my hair is and therefore it appears the hairpiece appears too dark when I'm wearing it and doesn't seem to blend with my own hair. Although many people would wear it as it is, I'm very particular about this sort of thing and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I could run some highlights through the hairpiece myself. I have already tried highlighting kit ( strand tested ) but this made absolutely no difference to the colour at all. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance.Highlighting synthetic hair?
NO, watch out, this can not be done. I tried it on a wig for Halloween, and the odor was horrible. The chemicals to strip the color from the hair (bleach it) are not meant to work with plastic/synthetic hair. What hair did not break on my wig was twisted and warped like it was burned. If you love your hair piece, avoid this. Try buying a smaller ponytail piece, maybe a sectional peice that contains blonde and intertwine it in the current hairpiece.Highlighting synthetic hair?
You need to use fabric dye to change synthetic hair colour though i don't know if you can make hair lighter you would need to experiment see the following link for info i hope it helps http://allaboutwigs.onthetop.com/allabou鈥?/a>
If you buy a human hair piece you can highlight these but human hair is more expensive
good luck!

Dying highlighted hair...(again)?
I didn't like the picture O used for my last question so im going to di it again...Right now my hair is light brown with blonde highlights, and I wanted to know if the highlights would be lighter than the rest of my hair or if they would turn pink or something if I dye my hair this color

No one in their right mind is going to click on an unknown link.Dying highlighted hair...(again)?
I would contact the company that makes the hair color product that you are using. They usually can make recommendations.
If you dye your hair that color you will have that color hair with light amber copper brown highlights.

Help!! Highlighted Hair Crisis?
So I went to the salon yesterday and my hairdresser who colored my hair blonde last month put highlights and lowlights into my hair yesterday. the lowlights are more of a goldenish/strawberry blonde color and the highlights are highlights. the problem is, when she was done and washed my hair and blew it out, it came out yellow! I literally look like a burning sun with strawberry blonde lowlights. CAN I AND HOW DO I TONE THIS COLOR DOWN? IS THERE ANYWAY TO MAKE IT FADE A BITHelp!! Highlighted Hair Crisis?
OMG, ignore most of the answers above or you'll make it MUCH worse.
The answer is MUCH simpler and you can go back to the same hair dresser to get it fixed. This isn't that uncommon. She can put a toner on your hair that will tone down the yellow and keep your hair from more damage. It's THAT easy. Whatever you do, DON'T BLEACH OVER HIGHLIGHTS...you'll end up with breakage all over your head! You shouldn't even be charged for the toner.Help!! Highlighted Hair Crisis?
u dont have to go to another hairdresser and u dont have to get darker tones go back to ur hairdresser tell her ur not happy with the colour and ask her to tone it for u she should do it for a cheaper cost as u dont like the colour
go to a better hairdresser or color your hair black at home
u already did wrong stuff with ur hair.... dont worsen it by again going to the hair dresser....
apply heena and egg to ur hair every morning and apply coco oil and ur hair should be good in bout a month.....
if ur hair weakened, then try having good combos of proteined foods.....
There are hair color removers that you can use to help tone the colors or will strip your hair so you can start over fresh. That may not necessarily be what you want to do, but it's worth a try.
ooooooooooooook im sorry i think cause i didnt read it lololol
Wash it for a week, you can use Prell shampoo or dish detergent to make it fade some, use a good conditoner though. Then have a light colored toner put over you hair. I can't really say exactly what color since I can't see your hair, diffenately don't use anything with gold in it. Maybe a light beige or nuetral color. Go back to the salon and have them fix it. You basically need to tone down the reds and golds in your hair. I'm not even sure you really need to make it fade, you can probably just have it toned down as soon as possible. P.S. There is no need to bleach it.
Try bleeching, this may sound like a bad advice but
it worked for me the last time, just remember to keep the limits
you have to go to another hairdresser and get it fixed with darker tones...
I think you should wait alittle before you make it done.. Else you will have a very unhealthy hair and it will look way worse.
You can use a color stripper, or bleach it

I really want blonde highlights in my hair but my mum wont let me,what should i say to convince her to let me?
I'm 14 btw, and my hair colour atm (light brown with a hint of blonde in it) Any help???I really want blonde highlights in my hair but my mum wont let me,what should i say to convince her to let me?
I know exactly how you feel because ever since i was about 10 i wanted platinum blonde hair and i begged and begged my mum but she said no if anything get very subtle highlights but she still wouldn't allow me because of my age.
She finally let me at the age of 16 and now im 19 and my hair is basically blonde just a few strands are brown and the bottom layers are very brown.
I don't think there is anything wrong with highlights but you need to take into consideration your age. Now looking back im grateful i had a sensible mum even though i hated her at the time!
I think you should respect your mums decision as you're still quite young, you'll have plenty of time to experiment with your hair later in life!
I really hope this helps!
xxI really want blonde highlights in my hair but my mum wont let me,what should i say to convince her to let me?
When your mum says no, respect that and don't go on about it. Your mother will most likely respect your maturity and let you get it done sooner anyway.
But my honest opinion about highlights is, dont do it. You then start the whole hair dye game, which we've all done, which means you will then keep on having to touch up your roots or let it grow out, which is a very lengthy process.
you need to know why she objects first... ask her what the problem is. i don't see any harm in having highlights. at least if you don't like it it will grow out. its not as bad as having a tattoo.
can you get another female on your side? an older sister or aunt perhaps. or one of your mums friends.
her problem might be that she still thinks of you as her ';baby'; and wants to keep you that way.reassure your mum that having highlights is only changing your hair colour, not you as a person.
good luck!
i know how you feel but im 16...i actually wanna go completly blonde but my hairdresser told me it wudnt be a good idea ...but highlights are the best thing...i have a friend who has strawberry blonde hair and her mom didn't want her to get blonde highlights but it rlly made her hair look good
make a deal with ur mom...get very very thin highlights they dont harm u if theyre put on right and u still get ur blonde highlights... u r still a lil young but ur prob starting high school...i totally understand
Will you die if you can't do it? When you are in the same position and your daughter of 14 asks you something that you disagree with, what will you say? Try and see the other person's point of view. It's called maturity. All kids think they know best. It's all part of growing up.
If you respect your mum you will ask her at what age she thinks it will be ok.
Go up to her and say
You:Mum, u know u can cook very well
Mum:thanks
You:Mum, i Was thinking about getting blonde highlights
Mum:And, i told u were not getting it
You:everyone in our school does it!(girls)
Mum:I will think about it
YOU THAN HUG HER
THIS MIGHT HAPPEN
i dunno what you can tell her but an alternative is to buy some Sun-In and spray a few strands and hang out in the sun...instant blonde highlights that look fairly natural but awesome
Dont get highlights they look tacky and make your hair look nasty and cheap .
just go and get it done and see what she says
she cant do anything after that

I have brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes.what colour red do you think i should go?
good choice.reds are wonderful color.I would stay away from bright reds. auburn color is nice.Burgundy hair color is reddish purple and so pretty. I also tried a cinnamon reddish brown that was nice.I have brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes.what colour red do you think i should go?
to be honest, red hair that isnt natural is tacky. it reminds me of Mimi from drew carey show where she had red curly hair, lots of blue eyeshadow and tons of eyeliner. lol
if you must go red, try to keep it subtle and natural looking, like auburn or strawberry blonde.I have brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes.what colour red do you think i should go?
Reds RARELY look natural, and they wash out to a creepy pinkish color rather quickly. Careful.

Blonde hair, want sexy highlights either red black or pink?
hi i have blonde hair, and need a new look, want highlights but dont no what colors to mix together, red with brown or black with brown. help plz than missyBlonde hair, want sexy highlights either red black or pink?
i like red wine colour highlights.Blonde hair, want sexy highlights either red black or pink?
OK do not get black highlights in light(blonde) hair, and here's why, I wanted the same thing done 2 years ago, my family tried to talk me out of it and i wouldn't listen, well i did it and instead of having cute black highlights it turned out to be patches of black, brown, yellowish brown, and dirty blonde. It was really ugly and I just now got my hair fully back to just blonde, and remember this was 2 years ago. If I was you I'd go with pink because it would look WAY better in blonde hair.
I hope this helps! :)
Highlights are thin streaks of color in your hair that are one or two shades lighter than your current color.
Want you want are streaks. If you go into a salon asking for highlights, then tell them you want them one of those colors, they'll give you the weirdest look ever. Trust me, I've been there.
Anyways, I think thin black streaks in brown hair would look good.
I think that the pink idea is the best,
because it's edgy but it's very classy.
look how well it pops out on her hair
and it looks great

Help!! Just dyed my hair & got red highlights I DON'T want. What can I do?
My natural color is brown, but with age it has lightened to blondish-light brown and gray. I'm going on vacation to visit my son Thursday and I'm just sick!! It came out brown but with VERY RED highlights. Anything I can do? (Don't want to go to hairdresser as I've had bad experiences before) I probably already know the answer- NO, just thought I'd try.Help!! Just dyed my hair %26amp; got red highlights I DON'T want. What can I do?
well the thing is that u have red in ur hair but u cant tell so when u dye ur hiar dont leave it in long then it will getlighter and the red will show so dye it back to ur normall color bjust dont leave it in longHelp!! Just dyed my hair %26amp; got red highlights I DON'T want. What can I do?
Unless you know what you are doing, the only way is to go to a professional. I know it's not an answer you want to hear but it is what is best. Don't you have friends who go to a salon who's hair you do like that they can have you call that salon?
I dyed my hair ';dark brown'; which turned black. I hated it and bought color oops.
It took out the black and old highlights that were under it.
It worked great for me, and took out the dye in minutes.
On the color you used...there might be a 1-800 phone number that you could call and they might be able to tell you what product might tone down the redness in the color you have now. I have found that many companies that produce color for hair have these phone numbers where they can consult with you about what to do. Sometimes you can redye with another color but...you need to know which one will not create a bad mix.
That or go to a hairstylist. If you have a friend who does color and you like their color ask where they got it done and go there.
I am so sorry to hear about that.

Does the sun make hair have natural highlights?
yes on all hair colours the sun will lighten certain parts giving you temporary highlights. The only problem is if you live somewhere where u get cold winter then they fade away in winter.Does the sun make hair have natural highlights?
Yes :)

Dark because she kind of has an exotic look to her, so the beach girl look doesn't work. She's very pretty either way though!!!

Highlighting hair....gay?
My hair is a light brown and a long time ago i highlighted it during last summer, since then it's all been cut off so i've had my regular hair for 8-9 months or so. I want to get it back to the way it was but i think my friends will be like ';dude that looks so gay'; what do you think?Highlighting hair....gay?
Most emo kids are getting hightlights these days, so, not so gay but some non-emo people might think so. But, hey, why worry what other people think, huh? Be you!!Highlighting hair....gay?
Hmm... well as a 22 year old female from Cali :) I will give you my opinion. It honestly depends on your skin tone and hair color. I think people with really dark hair that get highlights look really metro, but I wouldnt go as far as gay. Yet I think that people with lighter skin tones, dont look as good with highlights. But in the end.... it's what you think looks good. You're the one who's got to live with it :P
I have had several guy friends highlight their hair. Just tell them that its metrosexual.
i think that if person like how she look like they shouldn't listen for anybody else
Mmmm. The idea with highlighting is to make a 'dye job' not look like a 'dye job'. If people looked at you and thought 'highlights', then you went over board. If you don't need to dye your hair then don't worry about highlights.
That said, if you liked the way you looked with the highlights better then go ahead and get it done again. Just make sure that it looks natural. And the guys won't be busting your chops if you're the one attracting the chicks.
so gy youl never hear the end of it

Ya highlights would work. And i think u already look pretty so you dont really need more but if u wanna add them sure they would look ok but may i suggest having temp. highlights that wash out when u shower so u can identify if u really like the look or change the color and try another. Wat i would use would be Conair brand. I forgot the name of the item but it highlights ur hair then washes out. You could just look it up if i find out the name of the product ill email it to u.Should i add highlights to my hair? [pics included]?
i'd go with a deep auburn, since your hair already looks brown.
unless you want a dramatic change, i'd do honey blonde... thats what i did except i already had a natural red tint to my hair and it was a bit lighter, but if you do that, i suggest getting the full set of highlights:) nawt partial.
you can but don't go too light you don't want to look as if you have gray hair. Caramel tones would compliment your natural color or a medium natural blond stay away from anything that is yellow or brassy.
i thin u should go with reddish brown highlights instead of just plain brown i think it would look pretty yet firery at the same time =] hope this addvice helps =]
No. There is nothing more gorgeous on a women than their natural dark hair.
Some slightly slightly lighter colour through your hair would be nice, but dont over do it!
umm i dont wanna be mean but are you like 6? ok well ummm...go get some like reddish highllights or just keep it natural and grow it out longer!! sorry im not really mean :)
i would get riddish highlights.
yes ! it wud def wud def suit you I'd go for golden, caramel tones through the top of your hair and leave the rest alone xx
you should add one brown streak on one side
good idea, I think it'll suit you
i think you should leave your hair alone its cute
yeah that would look cool
